Sad passing of Phyllis Rose
The Board of Maccabi
Australia, our affiliated States and members join the Australian Jewish
community in expressing deepest sympathy to Suellen, Glynis and family on the
passing of Phyllis Rose on Thursday 26 November.
Phyllis was the wife of the late Lou Rose M.B.E, Maccabi Australia icon.
Lou was a Life Member and past-President of Maccabi Australia and the first
person to be inducted into the NSW Maccabi Hall of Fame. Lou was also made a
Member of the Maccabi Yakir for outstanding services to the Maccabi Movement
globally. In 1977 he was awarded Imperial Honours by Her Majesty Queen
Elizabeth II for his services to the Jewish Community of NSW and Australia.
If Lou was known as “Mr
Maccabi”, then Phyllis was “Mrs Maccabi” and her support, dedication and
passion were legendary.
Phyllis will be sadly missed by the Maccabi family not just in Sydney or
Australia but around the world.
