The Board of Maccabi Australia, our affiliated States and members join the Australian Jewish community in expressing deepest sympathy to Alan, Rosie, Judi, Nikki, Leora and family on the sudden passing of Maccabi Australia Board Member Helen Synman on Sunday 3 January.
Helen began her commitment to communal life in 1989 when she joined the Board of Governors of Mount Scopus College. She served as Vice President of the Jewish Community Council of Victoria 1991-1992, and was a member of the Commission for the Future of the Victorian Jewish Community. Helen chaired the Steering Committee for the Mount Scopus College Jubilee 1996. She co-ordinated both the Maccabi Victoria Archives and the Mount Scopus College Archive Project.
Helen contributed greatly to Maccabi in the areas of branding, marketing, archiving and online development. The Synman family has a long record of Maccabi involvement and support with Helen’s husband, daughter and granddaughter Maccabi award winners and high-achievers.
Helen will be sadly missed by the Maccabi family and a fitting tribute will be created in due course.
